Alum and SAGindie Fellow Selena Mars Answers Some Questions from Stowe
Stowe Story Labs asked 2017 SAGindie Fellow, Selena Mars, to answer some catch-up questions. Here are her answers!
If you think back to when you attended the Lab as the SAGindie Fellow, how is your life different compared to what you were aiming for?
“It's not drastically different. I have landed adjacent to where I wanted.”
What are you working on now?
I have a few things in the works! I'm excited to be working with RICH and the NEH on my documentary Black Rep! It is all about Black Repertory theater in America and is sponsored by Uncle Nearest Whiskey. I am also currently writing my first pilot.
Where are you living?
New England
What comes next?
I don't know exactly but it's always interesting!
Are you still writing?
Absolutely.
If so, what?
My documentary and pilot.
What do you want to do when this project wraps?
I plan to do the festival circuit and look for distribution. Then it's on to the next thing.
What advice do you have for aspiring writers?
Trust yourself! Get rid of things in your life that don't align with your goals. Keep writing.
What would it take to get you back with us for a visit or a talk or to mentor?
I love Vermont and the Stowe Story Labs community, so I would love to come back! Timing is everything.
